Have you ever seen this plant?
This plant is a wild and edible plant called ‘Fukinoto’ in Japanese.

It is said to grow mostly in Japan, China, and Korea.
When it starts growing, it means spring is coming.

Also in spring, cherry blossom is one of the famous flowers because it represents the spring in Japan.

When it comes to cherry blossoms in Joetsu city, I strongly recommend that you go to Takada park! It has approximately 4,000 cherry blossoms.

In fact, CNN chose Takada park as one of the 5 most beautiful cherry blossoms viewing venues in the world in 2012.
Especially at night, you will see amazing cherry blossoms with multitudes of spotlights. It is breathtaking.

Cherry blossom festival in Takada park is held from Apr. 1st to 15th, but the cherry blossom blooming is really short. It only lasts for a week.

「ふきのとう」は食（た）べることができる植物（しょくぶつ）です。
特（とく）に日本（にほん）、中国（ちゅうごく）、韓国（かんこく）で見られます。

春（はる）といえば桜（さくら）は日本（にほん）で有名（ゆうめい）な春（はる）を代表（だいひょう）する花（はな）です。

上越市（じょうえつし）には高田公園（たかだこうえん）という桜（さくら）の名所（めいしょ）があります。高田公園（たかだこうえん）には約（やく）4,000本（ほん）の桜（さくら）の木（き）があります。

なんと2012年（ねん）にはCNNに世界（せかい）の訪（おとず）れるべき桜の名所（めいしょ）の一（ひと）つとして選（えら）ばれました。特（とく）に夜（よる）のたくさんのスポットライトと桜はとても感動的（かんどうてき）です。
一度（いちど）訪れたら、わかると思（おも）います。

観桜会（かんおうかい）は4月（がつ）1日（ここのか）から15日（じゅうごにち）に行（おこな）われます。
しかし満開（まんかい）の時期（じき）はとても短（みじか）くて約（やく）1週間（しゅうかん）です。
