Do you know about Asaichi in Joetsu area ?
Asaichi literally refers to Morning Market in English, as Asa means morning and Ichi means market.
Morning markets are held for 21 days per month with different dates at four different locations.
( I will write about each market information on the next blog.)
The stands sell local crafts, snacks, marine products, and farm products such as vegetables, pickles, and flowers.

As Joetsu has four distinct rich seasons, a variety of seasonal products should be found at the market. There is typically a pleasant atmosphere around the markets where local people gather to purchase products and talk with vendors.
Morning market held in Takada. It has more than 100 years of history.
You can get seasonable vegetables and fruits.

Japanese traditional sweets, Dorayaki, a red bean paste pancake. This is something you must try if you like Japanese confectionary
Shiitake mushrooms!
You might feel uneasy a bit thinking about communicating with local people who speak only Japanese.
Even if in a limited communication, it should be interesting enough to experience the market, which has been loved by local people for a long time.

朝市(あさいち) は月(つき) に２１日間、上越の４つの場所(ばしょ) で開催(かいさい)されています。
それぞれの 市(いち) については 次(つぎ) のブログで 紹介(しょうかい)します。
